About Our Host

Nathaniel Group

Social:

NATHANIEL GROUP strives to do good things in this world.  We create medical devices that allow people to increase their odds of surviving cancer. This is done through earlier detection. We also have medical devices in the Sports Medicine area that allow people to stay active and decrease their pain. We go to great lengths to show respect for people within and without our company. We include our employees by seeking their input for many of our decisions.  We often have numerous employees meet potential new hires to make sure there is a good fit. We provide spots in our company for high school and college students; and have a long term employee who is developmentally disabled.  We offer flexibility in our hours where possible to assist employees in their work-life balance. We show respect by sharing financial, performance and quality data at company-wide meetings. We also contribute to many local charities to help build a better community.

Environmental:

Nathaniel is heavily involved in the transition of industrial and medical illumination to LED and laser light sources. Previously the dominant light sources used arc and filament lamps. A number of these lamps contained mercury and all had a much shorter life span. We are helping to divert tons of mercury based and other lamps from landfills. Additionally the efficiency is an average of a 50 percent improvement. We recently received the Vermont Green Business designation. We performed a large energy reduction program when we purchased our building and experienced a 47 percent reduction in energy consumed. We continue to look for ways to reduce, reuse and recycle in all aspects of our business.

Financial:

The product areas that we focus on have been beneficial financially. The world is looking for products and technology that reduce waste, reduce energy consumption, reduce pain and detect cancer earlier.  As a result there is money to be made doing the right thing. Treating our employees with respect has paid off financially as people tend to stay at the company for many years. We also get great feedback from our employees, which in turn leads to profits, as we experience higher quality and productivity.

Thank you NATHANIEL GROUP for hosting us!

Organized as one of Vermont's pioneering Benefit Corporations, SunCommon is committed to the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit. Most of our 100 workers operate out of The Energy Mill, Vermont's largest net-zero office building. Just 2 years old but now Vermont’s largest solar business, SunCommon installs half of all the residential solar systems in our state.  This is fun stuff.
