Where do ideas come from? How do you pursue them? How do you keep creativity alive throughout your life? Who in your life encouraged you along the way?

Join moderator Fran Stoddard, former VPR and Vermont PBS host, for a three-part series exploring the Spark of Creativity through a lens of Music, Entrepreneurism, and Education.

This second conversation in the series features special guests Michael Metz, Cairn Cross, and Pamela Polston to explore creativity in entrepreneurism.

Pamela Polston is a journalist, cofounder, coeditor and associate publisher of Seven Days.

Michael Metz is a businessman and entrepreneur specializing in high tech uses of precious and rare earth metals. He serves on the Generator Space Board of Directors and has been instrumental in the build out of their new space in Burlington. Community-minded and charitable, Metz also serves as a director on at least a half a dozen other for profit and non profit organizations.

Cairn Cross is a co-founder of FreshTracks Capital and serves as a Managing Director of the Fund. Cairn is on the boards of FreshTracks portfolio companies Vermont Teddy Bear, NativeEnergy, Faraday, Budnitz Bicycles and Mamava. He teaches in UVM’s SEMBA program and he is an Entrepreneur in Residence for Windham Grows, a business accelerator program. He created Road Pitch which has grown into a five day motorcycle tour around Vermont bringing investors and entrepreneurs to 10 towns to listen to entrepreneurs pitch their ideas. In 2011, the United States Small Business Administration named Cairn its Vermont, New England and National Financial Services Champion.

This series is a collaboration between All Souls Interfaith Gathering, Shelburne’s Pierson Library, Shelburne Farms, Shelburne Museum, and Media Sponsor, RETN.
